1. stop using ISP public smtp relays like smtp.univision.mn and so on (use only own mail hosting smtp servers)

2. stop using non-SSL or non-TSL connection for email (plaintext credentials can be easily intercepted, later misused or used for spam, or to discredit you, blackmail you, steal your correspondence, ransomware)

3. if your mail hosting (something like “anyone@magicnet.mn”) doesn’t like provide smtp server then you should configure your Outlook to use credential for other your mailbox, for example yahoo, gmail (for outgoing smtp server settings ONLY, for incoming use magicnet.mn credentials) – it’s not welcomed by antispam services, but it’s better than to use free public ISP smtp relay server.

4. don’t register your email address on suspicious web pages

5. don’t publish directly you email address on your company web site (only indirectly with protection against spambot robots)

6. the majority of Mongolian companies use mail hosting in other countries (even magicnet just reseller of american mail hostings) and don’t use in-house mail systems, without own IT administrator. Therefore nobody recommends and explains critical issues of using email systems. For example: be careful to use company webmail in internet cafe or other public places, hacked home game pc and so on (So it’s better to use common google authenticator and two-factor identificators even for own gmail, yahoo mail, live.com, facebook, linkedin and so on) Software and hardware keyloggers make even strong passwords useless.
